Shaukya Dekker

Born in Holland and inspired by the realm of spirit, Shaukya has created art for more than 20 years — her work a powerful record of healing, transformation, and encounter with the Divine. In 2014 she set aside the brush and began painting with her hands, letting luminous energies directly move through her body onto the canvas.

Shaukya lives on the North Oregon coast, nourished by its wild beauty. Her art is inseparable from her spiritual practice. Her greatest influence comes from her spiritual teacher and Transcendental Realist artist Adi Da Samraj.

Shaukya's paintings are often felt as a living presence. They are held in public and private collections across the US and Europe.

"I'm not just painting with color and texture — I'm painting with energy. Strong energy transmissions flow through my body, moving my hands spontaneously on the canvas. It begins with an invocation of Divine Light. Then whatever is or comes in my field is alchemized in the Light - the Light transforming and brightening it and giving it expression. It simultaneously requires surrender and being very present - an intense and ecstatic journey full of surprises.”

Artist Statement

I love that art can make visible, dimensions and realities which cannot be seen with the naked eye. It can show us that what's going on here is way more extraordinary and vaster than most of us were taught to believe. Everything is made up of energy and is connected in a radiant field of love and light. And there is an incredible beauty and stillness underneath the energetic and physical motions which make up our bodies and our world. I feel deeply fortunate to be able to experience this profound beauty, and it is my great passion to share it through creating and sharing my paintings.

I'm not just painting with color and texture; I'm painting with energy. Energetic transmissions come through my body onto the canvas. I'm using both my hands, and at times it feels that I'm doing laying-on-of-hands on the canvas, expressing the joy and ecstasy flowing through my body and heart.

Each time I go into the studio to make a painting, I am taken on a journey of transformation and expansion. It begins with an invocation of Divine Light. Then whatever is or comes in my field is alchemized in the Light - the Light transforming and brightening it and giving it expression. Luminous energies from higher vibrational realms may come through, old patterns may be uplifted into a happier expression, or there is simply an expression of whole bodily ecstasy made visible on canvas. I’m called to surrender, be fully present and yet out of the way, to allow this remarkable process to happen - a dynamic and mysterious play of consciousness, energy, and form.

The way a painting develops is therefore entirely spontaneous and surprising. The process may feel light and free and playful. It can also feel wild and intense, when powerful forces are animated, to make room for greater luminosity. Once complete, I often see figurative elements in a painting. The energetics present during the creation process seem to radiate from the finished work, inviting the viewer into a journey of participation to discover its many dimensions and secrets.

I feel profoundly grateful to be participating in this sacred art making, and am humbled to witness how deeply people respond and feel touched and enlivened. I welcome you to join me on this journey, to explore my work further, and see where it takes you.
